About The Position

Tessera is seeking a reliable Heavy Truck Driver to provide safe and efficient trucking services at Naval Base Kitsap (Bangor). This role includes operating tractors with semi-trailers, full trailers, trucks with dolly converters, and specialized vehicles such as fuel tankers. You will be responsible for transporting heavy equipment, oversized loads, and materials while maintaining safety and compliance. Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma/GED is required.
  • 3-5 years' experience operating vehicles.
  • Must possess a valid US Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card.
  • Must have current or be able to obtain Medical Examiners Certificate (DOT Card) before hire.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • Per our government contract, 2.7.2.6, “No employee or representative of the Contractor will be admitted to the site of work unless satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship is furnished.”

Responsibilities

  • Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety training and promote safe workplace culture at all times.
  • Heavy trucking may consist of the operation of tractors and semi-trailers, tractors and full trailers, trucks with dolly converters, fuel tankers, and full trailers. Included is the transportation of heavy construction equipment and transporting of overweight and oversized loads.
  • The Tractor trailer Driver will also provide medium trucking service; such trucking shall be for trucks less than 24,000 lbs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment is fully operational before each shift.
  • Clean the vehicle and service the vehicle with fuel.
  • Keep accurate trip logs.
  • Maintains radio or telephone contact with a base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations.
  • Keeps records of materials and products transported.
  • Secures cargo for transportation.
  • Assist in the warehouse in the receiving, stock or issue section.
  • This position may be subject to call-back availability based on operational needs.
