About The Position

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a full-time Driver/EDS Facility Worker. This position involves general housekeeping, warehouse work, and assistance with canteen service. The individual will be responsible for driving a truck for pickups and deliveries, as well as preparing for the receiving and delivery of products in the warehouse.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Certified fork-lift operator or willingness to be trained.
  • Class C or CDL license or willingness to secure within first two months of employment.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in maintaining properties or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness per established housekeeping schedule and upkeep of the facility, including lawn mowing, tree/shrubbery trimming, and snow removal.
  • Assist with monitoring warehouse property and systems.
  • Recharge all forklifts and power jacks along with warehouse worker.
  • Participate in the schedule for general facility cleaning.
  • Maintain all facility floors, including bay areas, in conjunction with warehouse worker.
  • Participate in the preventative maintenance plan for facility as necessary.
  • Drive truck for pickup and delivery of product as scheduled.
  • Assist with maintaining warehouse contents on the west side of the warehouse in an organized manner to ensure safety and security of the contents.
  • Follow established procedures for storage/access of warehouse contents.
  • Participate in organizing the warehouse contents and incoming product for easy access.
  • Participate in maintaining an updated Inventory of contents.
  • Participate in scheduling delivery and/or receipt of all product at the EDS facility.
  • Palletize and shrink-wrap all warehouse product as necessary.
  • Assist with the day-to-day EDS facility activities, including corps food pantry program.
  • Assist with managing the holiday food box and/or flood kit production line.
  • Assist with managing volunteers participating in warehouse activities.
  • Participate in the delivery of all holiday food boxes to Salvation Army Corps & Community Centers.
  • Provide assistance, on a pre-arranged basis, to other DHQ/THQ department areas as requested.
  • Keep the Assistant Director aware of any issues or concerns related to the operation of the facility.
  • Provide call out response backup during the day if necessary.
  • Participate in a backup schedule responding to after-hour canteen call outs when no volunteers are available.
  • Participate in scheduled special duties as approved by the EDS director.
  • Assist with regularly scheduled training program at EDS headquarters.
  • Assist with logistics operations within the Incident Command System upon activation.
  • Supervise additional volunteers assigned to logistics functions.
  • Manage expanded logistics and communication as assigned.
  • Assist in special duty coordination.

Benefits

  • $18/hr hourly rate.
