About The Position

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Transports patients for lab, x-ray, and other medical related services to necessary medical facilities wherever needed. May also transport lab specimens. Checks to be certain that seat belts are in position and fastened when transporting patients. Children must be properly restrained in a car seat, as required by law, before the van is started. Assists patients with getting in and out of the transportation vehicle. Cleans vans inside and out after each trip and/or at the end of the workday. Maintains vans with appropriate fuel and fluid levels. Provides general maintenance. Document data according to procedure. Communicates with the dispatcher as to job assignments, location, and status of transportation vehicle and driver. Maintains responsibility for the protection and care of communication equipment and other GLBHC assets. Receives and transmits calls to the van drivers regarding patient transportation needs. Places transportation phone calls to patients as necessary. Coordinates patient transportation needs with the Call Center and other staff as necessary. Maintains log of transmissions, telephone calls, and any other pertinent information. Inputs into computer in a timely manner. Completes travel schedules and assigns drivers for pickups. Prepares and distributes a variety of reports as assigned in a timely manner. Assigns drivers to interoffice pickups and deliveries as needed. Maintains schedule of all drivers and their location at all times during the scheduled workday. Makes schedule changes as needed to accommodate patient needs and site staff requests. Assigns drivers other duties as directed by the Facility and Transportation Director. Assists GLBHC with matters relating to building maintenance. Performs other GLBHC duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Required.
  • Chauffeur’s Driver’s License required.
  • Must maintain a “cleared” status with the MVR to meet GLBHC’s standards for driving company vehicles.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Evidence of insurability required.
  • Organized, dependable, punctual.
  • Able to follow directions, prioritize tasks, develop a routine, and function efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Friendly, courteous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to various situations and schedules.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 50 lbs. often.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in dispatching and scheduling transportation preferred.
