About The Position

The position of Driver is responsible for operating as a lead when onsite, managing a crew of helpers to ensure timely loading/unloading, transporting, and delivery. In this critical role you are to ensure excellent customer service is provided to our clients, sales representatives and staff. You are responsible for the quality of our delivery, including ensuring no damage occurs to client and event property (home, walkways, stairs, furnishings, etc.), T&C property (trucks, inventory, etc.), or city property (fire hydrants, planters, curbs, etc.).

Requirements

The services provided by Town & Country Event Rentals are seasonal and will result is varying work hours which at times will require you to work over-time or may result in slower periods. While this is a regular full-time (30+ hour) position, you may be asked to work overtime (when approved by your manager) or your hours may be reduced at times. Town & Country will do everything possible to maintain a standard work week. This includes supporting other departments such as Warehouse, Dishroon or Laundry.
Over-time must be approved by your manager prior to being worked. Any reduction in hours will be communicated to you by your manager. Requests to support other departments will be communicated to you by your manager.
Town & Country Events Rentals must adhere to the regulations established by the state of California and the Department of Transportation (DOT). Requirements for drivers include a clean driving record which must be consistently maintained, with little to no driving infractions. Any infractions received, may result in a change to your position and wage, dependent on the nature and severity of the infraction.
Current driver's license issued by the state of operation, California.
MVR Review and approval.
Acceptance by Insurance for you to be added as a driver.
Meet DOT physical standards with max clearance of 2 years approved (according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (Physical Qualifications for Drivers – Code: 49 CFR 391.41).
Once assigned to the position of Driver you will be in a 90-day review period. This will allow you to evaluate the role as well use to evaluate how you perform.
Review of your performance as a Driver will be reviewed during this time, for consideration of a rate increase at the completion of 90-days.

Attendance and reliability.
Job performance – managing your time, communicating with Dispatch, ensuring quality of inventory and truck when arriving and upon return; ensuring quality of event locations and property.
Driving performance – maintain a clean driving record; ensuring you do not have accidents, personal driving infractions or DOT infractions.

Responsibilities

Serves as a model example of work ethic, safety and professionalism to coworkers.
Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
Turn in paperwork for deliveries and picks ups properly documenting overages and shortages.
Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
Verifies all routes, assignments with Dispatcher prior to departure.
Verifies all loads for installation and pickup and maintains accurate records of all inventories used from warehouse to jobsite and back to warehouse.
Loads truck efficiently and safely, to prevent load shifts and damage to inventory.
Oversees and supervises helpers to facilitate efficient loading, delivery, installation and pickup of equipment.
Provides a customer service approach to communication and interactions with salespeople, clients and coworkers, to ensure professional and quality representation of Town & Country Event Rentals.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, while operating a company vehicle.
Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition and communicate any concerns with Greeter or Dispatch.
Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to Dispatch when you become aware (i.e. immediately).
Detects and eliminates or minimizes safety hazards.
Adheres to company and OSHA safety regulations.
Overtime – will be required to be worked during the busy season (provide months) and must be approved by your manager prior to being worked.
Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others to ensure timely delivery and pick up of inventory items; ability to communicate with Dispatch as soon as you are aware of potential delays for your stops.
