About The Position

The Class A Driver operates a single axle or tandem axle day cab with a capacity of 45,000 lbs. to deliver materials to customer shops and job sites. Key responsibilities include providing accurate, timely, and courteous service, collecting signatures and payments, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations through driver logbooks and reports. The driver is also responsible for pre-trip inspections, operating slide side curtain trailers, and securing loads to ensure stability. This role involves assisting with truck loading, optimizing delivery routes, and adhering to company safety practices. Additionally, the driver verifies items and quantities, reports delivery variances, and may perform various warehouse duties such as receiving, restocking, order picking, palletizing, staging, loading/unloading, and operating forklifts and WMS RF scanning devices. The position requires handling materials by hand, counting, weighing, recording units, labeling, and maintaining a clean work area. Basic computer proficiency and WMS experience are preferred.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Twelve months CDL driving experience required
Current driver’s license
D.O.T. certified with CDL license, Class A

Responsibilities

Drives truck to destination providing accurate, timely and courteous service.
Collects signature for goods delivered.
Collects payment for goods delivered if required following proper procedures with COD/cash deliveries.
Maintains driver logbook or ELD device, trip reports, fuel tickets, toll tickets, vehicle condition reports to comply with state and federal regulations.
Operates truck following all safety policies, laws, maintains safe driving record, and notifies supervisor of any violations.
Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
Conducts pre-trip inspections per regulations/policy.
Operates slide side curtain trailers.
Secures load using runners, boards, ratchet straps, chains, binders around items to secure cargo during transit.
Ensures proper load stability and balance.
Assists in loading of trucks as needed.
Recommends optimal delivery route to assure quick delivery and timely service to customers.
Observes all company safety practices and procedure.
Presents professional images in appearance and behavior with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
Accurately verifies items and quantities during delivery.
Reports and documents all delivery variances.
May sometimes be asked to assist with standard warehouse duties as needed which include receiving, verifying, and checking delivered material, restocking, picking orders, palletizing orders, staging orders, loading trucks, unloading trucks, operating sit down and standup forklifts, WMS RF scanning device and normal housekeeping duties.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Palletizes materials on to pallets and shrink wraps or bands material securely on pallet.
Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, cleans work area, machines, and equipment.
Operates sit down forklifts, standup electric lifts, moffets, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, to assist in loading or moving materials and products; moves levers and presses peals to drive lift and control movement of lifting apparatus.
Ensures products are handled in accordance to established standards.
Loads, unloads, straightens, and organizes product and warehouse.
Controls and accounts for materials to minimize loss and damage.
Responsible for staging, transporting, shipping, or returning products into and out of the warehouse.
Some data entry computer work required.
Utilizes state of the art WMS radio frequency bar code scanning technology software and hardware.
