About The Position

The Driver-Class A CDL is responsible for operating delivery vehicles and/or truck-trailer combinations to transport and deliver materials to customer sites. This role requires adherence to driver safety and compliance regulations, ensuring timely delivery of undamaged goods, and providing professional service to customers. The driver will operate vehicles weighing over 26,000 pounds and may tow vehicles or trailers exceeding 10,000 pounds. Key duties include loading and securing products, delivering orders, maneuvering vehicles for loading/unloading, assisting customers with material handling, verifying order details, maintaining logs, acting as a customer service liaison, and performing routine vehicle safety checks and maintenance. The position also involves using handheld devices for DVIR and HOS compliance, managing credit/product returns, and operating forklifts or non-motorized material handling equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • Class A CDL license
  • A minimum of 1 year of delivery driving experience
  • Pass MVR report
  • Obtain a DOT medical card within five (5) days of a request
  • Have less than 5 moving violations in the last 5 years
  • Basic math & measurement skills
  • Ability to read and speak the English language

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of CDL driving experience are strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Load or assist with loading and appropriately securing product, materials, or supplies inside delivery vehicle.
  • Deliver customer orders to specified delivery site.
  • Maneuver vehicles into loading or unloading positions and ensure that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Assist customers with unloading materials safely and accurately.
  • Take all precautions to protect the product and the customer’s property.
  • Verify order details and maintain logs of delivery duties including amounts and/or weights of items, mileage and locations of deliveries.
  • Check items against invoice to ensure order accuracy.
  • Act as a customer service liaison between the company and the site customer.
  • Handle customer concerns and help resolve issues as they arise.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles; perform routine safety checks to ensure vehicles comply with company guidelines.
  • Use handheld devices, except for while driving, to ensure compliance with DVIR and HOS.
  • Maintain hours of service logs and pre/post trip inspection procedures.
  • Perform credit/product return pick-ups and related paperwork.
  • Operate a Forklift or non-motorized material handling equipment to load and off load materials to designated areas.
  • Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
