Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Chick delivery driver must follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and best practices for safety when delivering chicks. Maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations Loads and unloads truck Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, oil, fuel, and water Performs daily pre and post trip inspections of truck Follow all Animal Welfare and Biosecurity procedures Able to communicate with hatchery manager and service techs Maintain Smithway generators and identify and report any abnormal situations with the Smithway and report to immediate supervisor. Deliver chicks to scheduled farms Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED preferred Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License Must maintain current DOT medical certification Must meet company insurability requirements Work Environment: Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and airborne particles. Subject to moderate noise levels consistent with truck operations and poultry facilities. Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit, climb in and out of vehicles Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently Required to physically place chicks in houses
