About The Position

The Driver CDL Trainee position at Republic Services is designed for individuals who are looking to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) while being trained to operate heavy or commercial trucks. The role involves completing a comprehensive training program that includes classroom study, on-route training, and practical driving experience. Upon successful completion of the program and obtaining a CDL, the trainee will transition into a Driver position within various lines of business, such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off services.

Requirements

  • No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers' license.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete Republic Services' CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, and driving experience.
  • Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
  • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle according to Company policy.
  • Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and to the disposal site.
  • Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of collected material.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is operationally ready at all times and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body after each trip.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company's lines of business after obtaining a CDL.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
