Responsible for operating commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,001 lbs. to deliver or pick up merchandise, materials, and equipment to assigned regional and/or local destination and/or customers in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
Drive commercial vehicles to deliver or pick up goods.
Follow safety procedures for transporting goods, including cargo securement.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions safely.
Load and unload vehicles as required.
Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
Record inspection information on the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Use an electronic logging device (ELD) to log daily activities.
Report traffic incidents and vehicle damage to supervisory staff.
Read bills of lading and manifests to determine assignment details.
Check load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Adhere to safety processes and protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
2 years of commercial driving experience with relevant cargo preferred.
High School diploma/GED preferred.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per assigned vehicle type required.
Successful completion of a road test required.
Ability to meet company insurability standards required.
Ability to meet FMCSA drug and alcohol clearinghouse requirements.
Ability to meet all driver qualification requirements per Federal regulations.
No drug violations during the previous 5 years.
Basic knowledge of laws and government regulations pertaining to commercial vehicle operations required.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
Basic measurement and arithmetic skills required.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
