About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide driving services for the needs of residents as approved by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with ERS policies and procedures and applicable state motor vehicle laws. As a Part-Time Driver, you can expect to drive ERS vehicles on trips including, but not limited to, medical trips, grocery shopping, other shopping, pleasure trips, and ERS internal mail pick-up and delivery. All trips are scheduled by the Transportation Supervisor. You will also assist residents getting in and out of vehicles, maintain the appearance of ERS vehicles, report incidents/accidents, and provide outstanding customer service to all customers in accordance with ERS's expectations and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents and work harmoniously with staff.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress.
  • Adequate sight/hearing senses or use of prosthetics.
  • Ability to lift, move, or push 50 pounds or more regularly.
  • Willingness to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccination.

Responsibilities

  • Drives ERS vehicles on scheduled trips including medical, grocery, and pleasure trips.
  • Utilizes safe driving practices and observes all state highway laws.
  • Assists residents getting in and out of vehicles and performs proper wheelchair tie downs when applicable.
  • Maintains the appearance of ERS vehicles by cleaning both exterior and interior.
  • Informs Transportation Supervisor of needed preventative maintenance and mechanical problems.
  • Reports incidents/accidents to the police and supervisor promptly.
  • Attends in-service education sessions and departmental meetings.
  • Provides back-up to office personnel during absences.
  • Participates in departmental studies and projects as directed.
  • Upholds the philosophy of Person-Centered Care.
  • Cultivates effective and respectful relationships with residents and staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and staff information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Promotes resident safety.
