About The Position

Born in a humble shed on the back-forty of the family vineyard, Firestone Walker is a California beer company like no other – founded by two brothers-in-law who simply wanted to make the perfect beer. This Full Time Driver-CDL Class A position is responsible for performing all required safety checks, operating tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations, ensuring proper loading and securing of freight, and conducting weekly deliveries to Firestone Walker locations. The role also involves utilizing a forklift for material handling and assisting with on-campus inventory movement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize pallet jack/forklift, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Ability to read labels and numbers.
  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate and use a PC computer, ability to clock time worked and review and approve timecard each pay period and access necessary employee systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • Dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Performs hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
  • Parks and stores tractor trailers in designated areas
  • Ensures all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Ensures all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch
  • Transfers materials to and from local offsite storage operations
  • Conducts weekly deliveries to Firestone Walker locations
  • Utilizes forklift to safely load or unload materials off or on to pallets, platforms, skids, etc.
  • Assists with orders on campus by moving kegs, cases of beer, and other inventory items as needed
  • Moves controls, devices, and levers to drive forklift to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas
  • Reports any damage to racks, equipment, forklift, or any other safety hazards
  • Obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods
  • Follows all Firestone Walker safety rules and policies
  • Other duties as needed
