JOB OVERVIEW: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A License with to perform duties as a Delivery Truck Driver by means of either straight truck or tractor trailer. Delivery Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivery of product and material while providing professional customer service to all whom you interact with. This is accomplished by appropriately using company vehicles and equipment to deliver products to Plants and warehouses in a safe and timely manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years Class A Commercial Driving experience
  • Minimum 5 years forklift experience
  • Minimum 1-year hand-held scanner experience
  • Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
  • Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control and usage of the equipment used in the loading/unloading of trucks (i.e. forklifts/pallet jacks/motorized jacks)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with vendors, management, and team members
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Current and valid CDL A license
  • Current and valid Medical Certification Card
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
  • The physical demand of the position requires an individual to have the ability to bend, ability to swivel at hips/back, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and be able to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a heavy-duty vehicle, equipment, and machinery
  • The loading and/or securing of products and materials on trucks daily. Assists warehouse or Plant personnel in verifying materials and quantities for accuracy.
  • Responsible for delivering product and material to VDF Plants and warehouses using the most efficient route available while observing and obeying all traffic laws and safety regulations as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Unload or assist in unloading product and material at the Plants or warehouse by using forklifts, pallet jacks and/or by hand.
  • Log trip hours, mileage, and other documentation as needed
  • Usage of scanner within ERP environment.
  • Ensures that delivery schedules are met while providing friendly and professional customer service.
  • Responsible for securing return loads to all warehouse locations

  • Responsible for the completion of required paperwork pertaining to deliveries, returns, and/or transfers to ensure the accurate tracking of product and materials for inventory control management purposes.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the inside and outside of delivery vehicles.
  • Performs routine daily pre-shift safety check on vehicles according to company policies/procedures.
  • Assists in warehouse with stocking, loading and organizing products and materials.
  • Follow all proper safety protocol for day to day use of all equipment used (Straight trucks, Tractor-trailers, forklifts, pallets jacks and motorized jacks)
  • Must be able to meet the driver eligibility guidelines for the Company.
  • Must successfully complete all Company training and certification requirements regarding equipment usage.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when necessary.
