The apprenticeship program is built and designed for new Class A CDL licensed drivers and professional truck drivers with less than 1 year of driving experience. Employee will be required to successfully complete all phases of the training program. This will include but is not limited to completing a training regimen covering minimum training hours that typically runs 6-8 weeks (or when deemed successfully completed) with a KeHE Driver Trainer demonstrating proficiencies in all areas of the training program. Apprentice drivers will become a Professional driver upon completion of one year of cumulative CDL A experience.

Requirements

  • Must have CDL class A driver’s license.
  • Must have a clean MVR and be in the pass category on the Motor Vehicle Grading Criteria specified by KeHE Distributors.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Pass the D.O.T. physical and drug screening.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when recording information and filling out required forms.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated - must be able to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and develop a good chemistry with coworkers.
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements for the job of CDL Truck Driver.

Responsibilities

  • Train to operate assigned vehicle(s) in a safe and responsible manner observing and abiding by all laws, ordinances, and rules of the road.
  • Operate vehicle assigned and conduct yourself in a manner promoting a favorable impression of KeHE Distributors.
  • Follow the instruction and guidance of the assigned trainer and progress in a manner acceptable to the Driver Trainer and Safety Manager.
  • Must always adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSA).
