About The Position

The Pesticide Applicator is responsible for the safe application of herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals in agricultural fields, adhering to safety and regulatory standards. This role involves operating equipment, transporting supplies, and performing routine maintenance. The applicator will ensure that all chemical applications are conducted properly, sometimes during night hours, and in potentially hazardous environments. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid State Pest Control Applicator’s License.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in pesticide application, with the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Knowledge of pesticides and herbicides, including proper mixing and application techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, including working night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport fertilizers, pest control products, and application equipment to and from the fields using a truck and trailer.
  • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet daily schedules.
  • Load and unload equipment, including tractors, water tanks, and other materials necessary for chemical applications.
  • Ensure proper handling and secure transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Verify the accuracy of delivery orders and product quantities, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Assess environmental and weather conditions to determine proper chemical application methods.
  • Mix chemicals in the correct proportions for safe and effective pest control.
  • Operate spraying equipment to apply herbicides and pesticides, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Calibrate and perform basic repairs on motorized and mechanical application equipment.
  • Perform herbicide and pesticide applications during both day and night shifts as required.
  • Follow all safety regulations for the transportation and application of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a valid state Pest Control Applicator’s License and comply with all legal requirements for pesticide application.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling chemicals and operating equipment.
  • Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the Lead Applicator or manager.
  • Perform routine maintenance on application equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and make basic repairs to equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical use, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections.
  • Provide excellent service when interacting with customers or landowners, ensuring clear communication regarding the timing and scope of chemical applications.
  • Respond to customer inquiries or concerns about product use and delivery.
  • Collect and submit necessary paperwork and signatures upon completion of work.
