As a Drilling Engineer IV you will design and implement casing and drilling programs in accordance with reservoir development scenarios while aiming to protect the health and safety of workers, minimize cost, and preserve the environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in engineering from a four-year college or university, or minimum of eight years of experience and/or training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experienced in interpreting technical, financial, and legal documents, addressing inquiries, communicating effectively with executives, public groups, and regulatory agencies.
  • Advanced problem solving, effective leadership skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate is flexible and willing to travel extensively to field operations, including frequent overnight stays.
  • Well Control Certified every two years, supervisory level

Responsibilities

  • Planning - Develop directional and casing designs for unconventional plays. Prepare well plans, procedures, and cost tracking for drilling projects and benchmark results. Operate in compliance with all HSE and regulatory guidelines.
  • Promoting Efficiency - Monitor drilling phase and recommend actions to optimize efficiency and address problems encountered. Evaluate technology and applications to gain efficiency in drilling operations. Interface with on-site supervisors and monitor daily drilling operations. Interface with asset teams to develop timelines in order to maintain efficient drilling operations. Communicate operations issues with asset teams and other Company departments.
  • Cost Control - Prepare and execute AFEs that accurately represent drilling time and well design. Evaluate bids and suggest service providers in support of drilling operations. Benchmark capital spending and cost efficiency in all aspects of drilling operations. Provide project management regarding invoice approval and settlements with service providers.
  • Data Analysis - Gather, verify, organize data sets, and prepare visuals to comprehend value propositions.
  • Teamwork - Responsible for active participation and documentation of team meetings. Supports field staff with direct supervision of procedures as required. Encourages collaboration and capture of lessons learned.
