This position will have direct oversight and management of staff working on drilling projects as well as costing and planning proposed future projects. What you’ll be doing: Including but not limited to:

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED required
  • 5+ years’ experience providing drilling or drilling oversight management services
  • Excellent people managerial skills and ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Must be a team leader who can lead growth and success through F&R values.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure drilling teams demonstrate stellar client service and stellar service delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and instruction delivery
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to identify and resolve challenges.
  • Ability to manage budgets bringing projects to completion at a profit
  • Ability to problem solve, accessing roadblocks with poise and control
  • Strong project or task management skills, including scheduling, execution and follow-up
  • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
  • Ability to lift heaving tooling (approximately 50-75 lbs) repetitively and perform laborious work daily
  • Ability to periodically stand, walk, and bend
  • Ability to frequently push, pull, and reach above shoulder
  • Ability to occasionally squat, kneel, crawl and climb
  • Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
  • Ability to work in environments containing dust, fumes, and chemicals
  • Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
  • Ability to travel overnight (up to 65%)

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL preferred but not required
  • State-issued well driller certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provides training to less experienced or entry-level drillers and drill helpers
  • Provides field oversight and inspection on assigned projects
  • Oversees and mentors Driller Helpers, Driller I’s, and Driller II’s
  • Manages the drill schedule and ensures internal deadlines are met
  • Performs site recons to confirm whether chainsaw clearing, hand augers, SPT drilling, mud-rotary drilling, and rock coring techniques are required prior to mobilization.
  • Oversees the performance of the subsurface field investigations
  • Performs utility locating on projects prior to mobilization to the site
  • Ensures the driller assignment packet is complete prior to mobilization to project sites
  • Uses GPS to log the location of a site’s boreholes and link it to other information about the worksite
  • Performs material inventory and routine maintenance of equipment
  • Coordinates with project managers to achieve project goals
  • Follows all safety regulations
  • Tracks daily work installed
  • Inputs timesheets and expenses electronically
  • Will also be responsible for the department performance and P&L review to ensure the drilling department is working at a profit.
