About The Position

IFS InfraSource is looking for a Drill Locator to be a key member of our field crew. The Drill Locator determines where underground utilities, such as telephone, gas and power lines, should be placed and where existing utilities are located.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is needed for this position.
Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Available to work overtime and weekends as needed (No on-call required)
Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills required
Ability to research and investigate all underground utilities
High level of organizational skills, excellent time management skills, and detail oriented
Computer knowledge
Experience in a similar position is required
Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Able to work in a confined space and work on feet 8+ hours per day
The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, to bend and stoop, and to lift heavy items is essential; it is also sometimes necessary to enter manholes
Since this job requires traveling to different locations, it is important to have a valid driver’s license as well

Responsibilities

Documentation of work consisting of electronic field sketching, GPS, and Data Collection.
Reading maps and blueprints to determine where utilities are located, marking the location of existing utilities for future reference
Utility locators may use electronic detection equipment in their work
May regularly be exposed to heat, cold, rain and other elements of outdoor weather
The utility locator may also have to perform physical activities such as using a shovel to unearth utilities as well
At all times, these professionals must follow safety procedures and laws
