About The Position

Performs duties to set up, adjust, and operate a tube drawbench to produce precision cold-drawn tubing. Receives direction and instruction from Shift Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Confirm that tubing presented to Drawbench conforms to order requirements, particularly job number and dimensions. Select, installs, and adjusts rods and tooling. Load tubing onto mandrel rods and operates drawbench to produce cold drawn tubing. Follow sample inspection procedures to verify tubing dimensions and surface finish satisfy order requirements. Segregate discrepant material from prime product. Perform minor polishing of tooling if/when necessary. Move bundles of product to and from the drawbench with overhead crane. Accurately and legibly complete product tags and production and inspection reports. Refer concerns about tubing quality or equipment condition to Shift Supervisor. Use micrometers and other gages, power saw, tape measure, common hand tools. Communicate with employees of other shifts regarding status of operations, equipment, tooling, etc. Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures on drawbench. Assist maintenance repairman in repair of drawbench. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area. Various other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Requirements

  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • 260 to 520 hours on-the-job probationary period.
  • Passing grade on job qualification exam and satisfactory demonstration of ability to perform duties of the job.
  • Complete set of necessary hand tools upon completion of probationary period.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and/ or walk, and/ or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended period of time.
  • Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
  • The employee must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions.
  • Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.
