As a Drainage Engineer with 7–9 years of experience, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, buildable solutions for both public and private sector clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 7–9 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / CEng) license or actively working toward licensure
  • Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage design principles
  • Proficiency with drainage and modeling software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, InfoDrainage, XP-SWMM, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with public and private sector clients
  • Ability to interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and environmental constraints
  • Solid knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and approval processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • High attention to detail with a focus on practical, constructible solutions

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation systems for land development and infrastructure projects
  • Prepare and review drainage reports, technical calculations, plans, and specifications
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoDrainage, or similar)
  • Apply local, regional, and national drainage standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and manage drainage-related risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout project development
  • Manage assigned project components from concept through detailed design and construction support
  • Coordinate with civil, transportation, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction
  • Support development of cost estimates, schedules, and design optimizations
  • Collaborate with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and resolve technical issues
  • Participate in project meetings and present technical information clearly and confidently
  • Support proposal preparation, scope definition, and business development efforts as needed
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Review work prepared by others to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of standards, tools, and internal processes
