About The Position

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified, responsible, self-sufficient, energetic Drainage Designer/EIT-1’s for our Phoenix, AZ office. The ideal candidate will be motivated to develop and build their personal knowledge and skills to assist with the growth and success of the office. Job Description : Assisting senior design personnel in developing and completing designs and contract documents. Design municipal and state projects for streets/highways/freeways involving roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic engineering. Ability to function as a project engineer and understand all aspects of design and plan production. Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans. Self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is team-oriented. Travel periodically within Arizona and neighboring states, while being physically capable of performing fieldwork.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum Experience: Entry level
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/Openroads
  • Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision-making
  • Have familiarity with roadway design guidelines and codes
  • Experience with design calculations, preparation of quantities and cost estimates, preparation of special provisions, and preparation of project plans is desired
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
  • Communicative – interacts openly with others; can maintain relationships, works well independently or with a team.
  • Consultative - Consults with other disciplines as needed; tolerates different perspectives or opinions.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Wise experience is a plus
  • InRoads and Civil 3D experience a plus
  • Experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, QGIS, Python a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpretation of hydrology and hydraulic reports
  • Review, interpretation, and understanding of design codes
  • Development of hydrology and hydraulic models
  • Using available open-source software and tools to perform geographic information analysis
  • Establish and maintain schedules and offer progress reports on work performed
