About The Position

Performs complex drafting work. Work involves compiling and organizing architectural drafting data of office floorplans of offices using AutoCAD files; designing floorplans and recommending design changes; and preparing layouts, specifications, and quotes. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • One year full-time, wage-earning computer-aided design (CAD) drafting experience pertaining to residential or commercial building design
  • thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) with main course studies in Architectural Drafting may be substituted for each year of experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of building construction methods and components.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in the use of drafting and lettering instruments.
  • Skill in the operation of various computer-aided drafting programs software and equipment.
  • Skill to make mathematical calculations.
  • Skill to read architectural office layouts and blueprints.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
  • Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Texas Correctional Industries' modular furniture preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares preliminary and final floorplans and drawings using AutoCAD files, field notes, space planner notes, original plans, and customer notes and drawings for modular systems furniture quotes.
  • Works with embedded modular programs to produce modular furniture configurations that conform to detailed information from final floorplans and notes; and audits modular furniture layouts and configurations for accuracy.
  • Checks calculations, drawings, and submittals from site visits and customers for conformance to specifications of modular furniture layouts.
  • Prepares detailed quote packets for customers.
  • Processes purchase orders for quoted projects.
  • Prepares installation packets of purchased projects.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
