Nucor Steel-Hertford County is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Drafter to support mill operations, safety initiatives & projects, and capital projects. This position will be responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining accurate 2D and 3D drawings of equipment, structural components, electrical and fiber infrastructure, mill utilities, and overall mill layouts. This role will lead the efforts in standardizing and digitizing drawing assets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and long-term sustainability across departments. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Basic knowledge/skillset of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D
  • Experience in a steel manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
