POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the Drafter/CAD Operator IV prepares drawings by working manually or using a computer. Employees in this job class perform unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise. This job class requires the ability to exercise independent judgment. TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. Occasionally interprets general designs and CADD drawings prepared by others to complete minor details and review them for accuracy and adequacy.2. Modifies preliminary, final, contract and as-built CADD drawings prepared by others to tailor them to meet the specific needs of the housing staff.3. With no technical assistance, prepares a variety of 2-dimensional community maps, route maps, single-line sketches, floor plans, organization charts, decision charts, and similar technical drawings either manually or using a computer.4. Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawings that are used to communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information.5. Provides advice and guidance to lower level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.6. Prepares material take-offs and engineering cost estimates for minor improvements and modifications to residential homes.7. Maintains a CADD and data file library by organizing, managing, maintaining, and updating computer generated drawings and documents on the commonly shared networked hard drive for easy access and retrieval by housing staff.8. Prepares AutoCAD.dwg and PDF versions of various types of technical drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, water systems, mechanical and electrical equipment, pipelines, duck systems, and similar equipment, systems, and assemblies.9. Makes full color plots up to Arch D size of technical drawings.10. Where required, conducts regular visual inspections of housing communities to check both resident and property manager compliance with established standards policies and orders (regulations).11. Where required, conducts personal and telephone interviews of selected residents to determine their levels of satisfaction with housing services and identifies areas of concern.12. Where required, inspects homes, structures, and community facilities for maintenance and repair needs.13. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Denotes Essential Job Function
