Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Designer to join our engineering team. This role will play a critical part in supporting both sustaining engineering efforts and new product development. The ideal candidate will work closely with design engineers, the shop floor, and other departments to ensure accurate, timely, and manufacturable design documentation.

Requirements

  • AS degree in drafting/designing program or 2 years’ experience working with CAD in engineering environment
  • Performing detail-oriented work requiring high levels of accuracy
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from manager
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees
  • Strong desire to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working with SolidWorks or Onshape in engineering environment
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CSWA
  • CSWP
  • Mechanical skills and experience with heavy trucks and equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support sustaining engineering tasks, including product updates, improvements, and technical documentation revisions.
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in a timely and organized manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between the shop floor and the engineering department, troubleshooting design issues, clarifying prints, and supporting production needs.
  • Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models based on concepts provided by design engineers, ensuring adherence to internal and industry standards.
  • Assist with reverse engineering projects, including measuring existing components and developing complete print packages for manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain drawing packages for both new and existing products, including BOMs, detail drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Ensure proper revision control and documentation practices are followed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, purchasing, and engineering teams.
