About The Position

The City of Grandville is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of DPW Maintenance Worker within the Department of Public Works. This entry-level role involves performing maintenance operations across various city facilities, including streets, parks, and water distribution systems. The position requires a valid Michigan Driver's License with a CDL class B endorsement and offers a starting pay of $23.10 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in public works maintenance or a related field.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License with a CDL class B endorsement (or ability to obtain one within six months).
• Ability to operate related vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools used in related tasks.
• Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work well with fellow employees and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and equipment requiring a CDL to haul materials, sweep streets, and plow snow.
• Operate riding mowers and related equipment involved in grounds maintenance.
• Use small power and hand tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Perform custodial tasks such as mopping, sweeping, and dusting.
• Assist with street maintenance, water main repairs, wastewater system repairs, and building and grounds maintenance.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
