About The Position

The Program Investigator at the Texas Department of Public Safety is responsible for conducting administrative investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with statutes and regulations. This role involves working under general supervision to gather information, prepare reports, and communicate findings with various stakeholders, including law enforcement and regulatory agencies. The investigator may also assist in training programs and participate in seminars, while maintaining a focus on integrity, excellence, accountability, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in conducting investigations, inspections, audits, or related administrative work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with software such as CAPPS and SharePoint.
  • Ability to gather information and prepare detailed reports for legal hearings.
  • Working knowledge of TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
  • Presentation and communication skills to deliver clear and concise information to various audiences.
  • Analytical reasoning and attention to detail to identify trends and solve problems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CJIS and other relevant software systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct administrative investigations and inspections of regulated businesses and individuals to ensure program compliance.
  • Record inspections and investigations into the required databases.
  • Confer regularly with RSD personnel regarding assigned activities, duties, responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate with department personnel, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, businesses, and individuals regarding statutes and regulations.
  • May serve as an instructor in training schools and proctor exams.
  • Assist with the implementation of training programs for department personnel and external customers.
  • Work closely with department regulatory counsel regarding program matters and testify in court and administrative hearings.
  • Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
