About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school.
  • Minimum of one year of general office, volunteer, or customer service experience; cash handling experience preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver license required; must obtain a Texas license within specified time if moving from out of state.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with customer service in a government or regulatory environment.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, to assist foreign language speaking applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and deal with the general public in a professional and courteous manner; answer general questions pertaining to applications for various types of driver licenses and identification cards.
  • Receive and review license and permit applications, revisions, and renewals; determine the legal needs and requirements of applicants.
  • Make and interpret inquiries to determine applicants' eligibility for licensing.
  • Input license and permit applications, payments, and required technical data into appropriate systems; collect license fees and prepare receipts.
  • Check accuracy of applications and documents; ensure source document data input is correct.
  • Administer oral, written, or other tests to license and permit applicants; schedule applicants for driving tests.
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance related to license and permit requirements to the public and agency staff.
  • Approve applications for licenses and permits based on regulations and policies; administer oaths as necessary.
  • May travel to work in other Driver License Offices and/or for training; may provide own transportation.
  • Prepare and maintain work area and testing devices daily; attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.

Benefits

  • Salary of $3,525.91 per month for full-time work.
  • Regular work schedule of 40 hours per week.
