About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of general office, volunteer, or customer service experience; cash handling experience preferred.
• Valid driver license required, with a Texas license needed within 90 days of moving to Texas.
• Certification as a Commercial Knowledge Examiner (CCKE) required within the first six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in customer service or public interaction roles.
• Knowledge of TXDPS regulations and procedures.
• Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, for assisting diverse applicants.

Responsibilities

• Meet and assist the general public in a professional manner regarding driver license applications and related inquiries.
• Review and approve original and permit applications, ensuring compliance with state regulations and agency policies.
• Conduct basic evaluations of applicants' physical driving capabilities and refer them for further evaluation if necessary.
• Inspect motor vehicles for safety prior to road tests and verify financial responsibility.
• Issue licenses and permits, collect fees, and maintain accurate financial records.
• Administer written and oral tests to applicants and schedule driving tests as needed.
• Provide information and testimony for administrative and judicial hearings as required.
• Assist in training co-workers and provide administrative support related to licensing and permits.
