Requirements

  • Certification as a Commercial Knowledge Examiner (CCKE) required within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and deal with the general public in a professional manner; answer questions regarding driver licenses and identification cards.
  • Receive and review applications for licenses and permits, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
  • Determine the legal needs of applicants and screen application forms for qualification.
  • Approve applications based on regulations and agency policies.
  • Perform basic checks of applicants' physical driving capabilities and eyesight.
  • Inspect motor vehicles for safety prior to road tests and verify financial responsibility.
  • Issue licenses and permits, collect fees, and ensure accountability for transactions.
  • Administer written and oral tests to applicants and schedule driving tests.
  • Provide information regarding suspensions, cancellations, and revocations of licenses.
  • Prepare daily bookkeeping reports and maintain work area and testing devices.
