The Doula-Friendly Hospital Program Manager, Clinical and Community Partnerships provides quality improvement program implementation leadership and coalition building support by providing program management implementing the doula-friendly hospital model within NYC maternity hospitals and oversight of the New York Coalition for Doula Access (NYCDA). The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) implements a Citywide Doula Initiative, which takes a multi-faceted, community-centered approach to addressing maternal health inequities by: 1) providing no-cost doula care to NYC residents in disinvested communities; 2) building a diverse and sustainable doula workforce through doula training, apprenticeship, and professional development; and 3) promoting systems change by supporting hospitals in becoming doula-friendly and centering doulas in policy change including implementation of a Medicaid benefit.
