About The Position

Total Safety is seeking a DOT Driver to join our safety-focused team! This role involves operating commercial trucks and a variety of trailers to transport, load, and unload equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations, while ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations. In addition to driving responsibilities, this position will also include Air Technician duties, which involve cleaning, calibrating, and repairing various types of breathing air equipment with a high standard of quality and attention to detail. Requirements

  • Valid DOT Class A CDL.
  • Experience operating commercial trucks and trailers.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Attention to detail and high standard of quality in work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SCBA and respiratory equipment.
  • Previous experience in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Refers to the safety and operations checklists of steps to be followed for each trailer type to be pulled and follows checklist before each haul.
  • Completes DOT and company-required documentation.
  • Provides timely delivery and pick-up to and from designated customer locations.
  • When picking up equipment, inspects for damage and/or excessive wear and notes accordingly.
  • Complies with current DOT regulations.
  • Completes all documentation associated with delivery and pickup in a timely and accurate manner and obtains signature from customer.
  • Performs basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
  • Performs regular inspections, not less than weekly of all assigned trucks and trailers to ensure that all required safety and preventative maintenance measures have been executed and documented.
  • Assists others in facility including stocking shelves with clean, tested and ready to use equipment and pulling, staging and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
  • Maintains work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assists others as needed.
  • May need to perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Performs receipt, inspection, cleaning, servicing, reassembling, and testing of various SCBA and other respiratory equipment in accordance with approved testing and service procedures.
  • Performs routine inspection and maintenance of breathing air regulators and reducers and high- and low-pressure breathing air manifolds.
  • Conducts detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment to report any deficiencies and corrective action recommendations to customer.
  • Assesses the repair needed and to quote the customer price and delivery for repair or replacement.
  • Completes all documentation and data entry associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner and obtains signature from customer.
