Requirements

• Current RN or LPN license in Michigan.
• BLS Certification.
• Experience in medication administration and patient monitoring.
• Knowledge of addiction medicine and opioid recovery treatment.

• Previous experience in addiction medicine.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer methadone or buprenorphine according to prescribed dosages.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects during and after dosing.
• Ensure proper documentation of all medication administration.
• Assess patients for withdrawal symptoms, intoxication, or signs of overdose before administering medication.
• Monitor patients post-dosing to ensure safety, especially for new patients or those on adjusted dosages.
• Perform routine health checks, including vital signs and physical assessments.
• Provide education about methadone or buprenorphine, including its purpose, effects, and proper use.
• Maintain accurate and compliant records of all doses administered.
• Track and maintain inventory of methadone and buprenorphine supplies to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Adhere to federal, state, and facility-specific protocols for handling and administering controlled substances.
• Verify patient identity before administering medication to prevent errors or misuse.
• Respond to emergencies, such as overdose or severe withdrawal symptoms, following established protocols.
• Work closely with physicians, counselors, and caseworkers to ensure integrated care.
