About The Position

The Dosimetrist in Radiation Oncology at UC Health plays a crucial role in treatment planning for radiotherapy patients across all age groups. This position involves collaboration with Radiation Oncologists to develop optimal treatment plans, ensuring mathematical accuracy in dose calculations, and participating in radiation safety protocols. The role offers a hybrid work environment with a four-day work week, allowing for both clinical and remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1-2 years of equivalent experience preferred.
  • Graduate of a Medical Dosimetry JRCERT accredited program (12 months or longer).
  • Willingness to certify or license within 12 months if a recent graduate.
  • Knowledge of 2D, 3D, IMRT, and brachytherapy treatment planning.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise port set-up and localization of tumors in conjunction with the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Prepare contours and produce treatment plans using computerized treatment planning systems.
  • Communicate the development of optimal treatment plans with Radiation Oncologists.
  • Ensure mathematical accuracy and dose calculations of patient's radiotherapy charts.
  • Assist with treatment planning CT simulations.
  • Fabricate and design custom-made blocks, compensating filters, and immobilization devices as required.
  • Participate in radiation safety requirements, including surveys of brachytherapy rooms and posting radiation warning signs.
  • Maintain logbooks and radioactive shipments in the brachytherapy source room.
  • Clean rooms and equipment, and prepare radioactive materials for patient use.
  • Assist Radiation Oncologist during special procedures in the O.R. and patient room.
  • Prepare dose calculations for intercavitary and interstitial implant procedures.
  • Complete quality assurance on treatment planning systems for accuracy and consistency.
  • Input treatment planning charges for patient billing into the computer system.
