Requirements

  • Six (6) years of direct work experience Anthropology, History, Museum Studies, or a closely related field. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one or more related fields may substitute for the required years of experience.
  • Knowledge of curation practices associated with archaeological and/or museum collections
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a museum or collections repository
  • Experience using or maintaining collections management systems

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and assists Collections and Conservation staff.
  • Maintains and updates the Collections Management System. Serves as the primary point of contact for agency support for the Axiell Collections system. Implement system updates and changes where necessary. Conducts training for Bureau staff members and maintains system documentation.
  • Promotes the State of Florida artifact collections through websites, scholarly and public access, exhibits, and programs. Collaborates with agency staff on Department-wide programs.
  • Advances in improvements of facilities to ensure collection and conservation standards are met. Acts as the primary point of contact for facility maintenance and construction projects.
  • Supervises annual inventory of Bureau collections as required by s. 267.115, Florida Statutes.
  • Performs other work-related duties as required.
