About The Position

Door Technician: The Door Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and constructing solutions for all types of interior and exterior man-doors used in commercial and industrial facilities. This includes metal, wood, hollow-core, fire-rated, and specialty doors, as well as associated hardware such as frames, lock, hinges, and closers. The Door Technician will ensure all work meets safety and code requirements while delivering a professional, high-quality finish.

Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain and maintain a DOT Medical card.
  • Able to obtain and maintain forklift, telehandler, and MEWP (mobile elevated work platform certification (Lift will certify)
  • Two (2) years of relevant mechanical, welding, electrical and hydraulic experience.
  • Ability to use electronic devices for document submission/communication and using work related Apps.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Professionalism and follow through.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends (occasionally).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial door installations, carpentry, or metal fabrication
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Willingness to cross-train in dock and door equipment installation and maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Identifying the problem based on customer concern and testing to locate the failure.
  • Construct, install, repair, and replace interior and exterior man-doors, frames, and related hardware.
  • Perform field measurements, alignments, and adjustments to ensure proper operation and sealing.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, structural, or hardware-related issues on-site.
  • Professionally communicating with customers for approval on all repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist with loading dock equipment service and installations as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project managers, service dispatcher, salesmen, etc. regarding job status and requirements.
  • Driving to and from locations (customer sites, parts pickups etc.) to address onsite needs for the customer to complete the job.
  • Tracking, documenting, and communicating with parts department to meet inventory control requirements.
  • Completing safety company checklist for each job, and related paperwork.
  • Electronic submission of completed work orders to the appropriate department.
  • Perform other duties as required for business operations.
