About The Position

The Door Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing door shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Key aspects of the role include improving working conditions related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost, as well as enhancing employee skills. The supervisor will prepare activity plans, assist in refining production control systems, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, quality control, and performance management. This position involves planning and assigning work, recommending operational improvements, managing departmental performance metrics, supervising personnel, conducting accident investigations, maintaining inventory levels, tracking absenteeism and time-keeping, managing department priorities, and providing employee coaching, development, and issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to lead people and get results through others.

  • Ability to plan ahead and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Experience with supervising, disciplining, motivating and training employees.
  • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Two years of college or vocational training; or GED/high school diploma and related experience.
  • Warehouse, production (manufacturing), or logistics experience.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase employee skills and capabilities.
  • Prepare activity plans for the aforementioned conditions.
  • Assist in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control and performance management.
  • Plan and assign work.
  • Recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls.
  • Provide regular progress reports to manager.
  • Supervise the personnel involved in the above processes.
  • Perform accident investigations and ensure the proper paperwork is completed.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Track absenteeism and time-keeping.
  • Manage department priorities.
  • Provide employee coaching and development.
  • Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
