About The Position

The Donor Support Tech is responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process. This includes preparing the autopheresis machine, monitoring the donor and the pheresis process, and responding to alarms or signals that may occur during the process. The role involves disconnecting the donor when the process is complete and maintaining alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process. The technician will use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, link equipment to the appropriate donor, and ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system. The position also requires maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies, and following all health and safety policies. Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process.
  • Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  • Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals.
  • Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
  • Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process.
  • Record incidents during the pheresis process using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
  • Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.
