This job develops and manages blood donation recruitment in an effort to achieve a self-sufficient collection status, providing a safe, adequate and ongoing blood supply. Provides promotional and educational materials; prepares on-site presentations when deemed necessary and when permitted; and develops individualized campaigns, themes and promotional packages for the recruitment of blood donors. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years related experience
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service skills necessary in order to deal professionally, effectively and courteously with co-workers, corporate chairpersons, donors and the general public.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed to meet organizational and departmental missions.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines and to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Skills to creates and conducts educational activities and persuasive presentations regarding blood component needs in order to encourage participation in blood drive activities before a broad spectrum of audiences.
  • Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel between and throughout facilities and movile locations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, such as nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts while accepting variation in schedule and workload.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully recruits blood donors by providing all required material, presentations and coordination of drive set up with mobile collections staff.
  • Accurately projects blood drive goals in order to plan sufficiently and provide an ongoing, adequate blood supply.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Maintains a positive customer service environment during interactions with donors, coworkers, patients, corporate contacts and visitors.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional accountability.
  • Conducts tailored motivational written or oral presentations and educational activities for individuals and groups to inspire participation and promote understanding of the need for blood products through a sense of community responsibility and reciprocity.
  • Maintains time management/organizational skills.
  • Organizes tasks and performs them so that team members can follow behind and easily trace all work steps.
  • Performs post drive assessments and reviews customer surveys.
  • Maintains regulatory and safety compliance with an awareness of AABB, FDA, CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and HCFA standards/guidelines for Blood Bank Donor Services
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
