About The Position

The General Board of Global Ministries is the worldwide mission, relief, and development agency of The United Methodist Church, working with partners and churches in more than 115 countries to equip and transform people and places for God's mission. Global Ministries connects the church in mission through the sending of missionaries, evangelism and church revitalization, disaster response and recovery led by the United Methodist Committee on Relief, and global health. The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry connects the church and the academy and develops transformational leaders for the ministry of the church. This position is responsible for planning and managing all aspects of GBGM/UMCOR/GBHEM's annual giving program to drive substantial growth in giving and donor engagement. The position is also responsible for creating and leading a comprehensive stewardship program that strengthens connections with donors at all levels, with particular emphasis on leadership levels ($1,000 - $9,999). The incumbent is required to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive donor information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience, preferably in annual giving, digital campaigns, or donor engagement.
  • Experience using donor-focused CRM platforms; Salesforce preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong donor-centered messaging.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and inform strategy.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and proactive energy.
  • High attention to detail, especially regarding data integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Determine strategies and segmentation for all mailed and emailed solicitations.
  • Partner with communications to align content with broader messaging and inspire support for priority funds.
  • Oversee strategy for mailed and digital acquisition campaigns.
  • Use donor data and analytics to tailor gift arrays and identify giving trends.
  • Work closely with the research team to identify major and planned giving prospects.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive stewardship program that increases donor retention and enhances engagement across giving levels.
  • Develop giving and stewardship strategies for specific groups such as corporate donors, missionary alumni, and planned giving donors.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in fundraising, annual giving, and donor engagement.
