This role is responsible for determining donor eligibility, plasma collection and product processing while maintaining compliance. The technician ensures compliance with all state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain production standards and facility compliance. Key responsibilities include maintaining high levels of customer service, donor confidentiality, and a positive donor experience. The technician monitors donor conditions, performs eligibility assessments (vitals, microhematocrit, total protein testing, donor registration), and operates automated plasmapheresis equipment, including troubleshooting and disconnecting donors. The role also involves plasma collection and processing, sterile product and sample handling, freezer organization, and preparing shipments in compliance with SOPs and transportation regulations. Monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures, reporting malfunctions, and documenting variances are also required. The technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the donor center and work areas, ensuring proper stocking, and safe disposal of biohazardous waste. Quality control on donor center equipment and accurate recordkeeping are essential. The role provides oversight of product safety and quality by maintaining proper collection ratios, monitoring donor safety, and responding to adverse donor events, as well as troubleshooting machine issues and performing routine quality control checks.
