About The Position
The Donation Services Associate at Goodwill of Colorado serves as the first point of contact for customers dropping off donations at retail centers. This role is crucial in providing excellent customer service, which includes greeting customers promptly and assisting them with unloading donations from their vehicles. Associates are expected to handle donated items with care and respect, ensuring that all goods are sorted appropriately into designated bins or production areas. The position requires the ability to make decisions based on Goodwill's standards and guidelines, as well as basic computer skills for logging supplies and managing email communications. In addition to customer interaction, the Donation Services Associate is responsible for inspecting donations to determine their quality and suitability for the sales floor or for shipping to other locations. Maintaining a safe, organized, and clean environment is essential, particularly in the donations entrance and parking lot areas. Associates may also be required to cross-train in other departments, act as backups when necessary, and manage remote donation centers, including following proper opening and closing procedures. The role demands physical stamina, as associates will frequently lift and carry heavy items, work in various weather conditions, and use safety equipment to assist with lifting. Effective communication with customers, managers, and peers is vital to ensure a smooth operation and a positive experience for all involved. The position may also require working weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as needed.
