About The Position

Donation Dock Associate is responsible for greeting donors and accepting their donations. The position is required to share the mission of the organization and share how the donations will be serving survivors of domestic violence. The position is responsible for accepting, sorting, pricing, and organizing merchandise.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate.
  • Previous work-related skills, knowledge and/or experience in sales, inventory or relationship management.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, active automobile insurance and dependable transportation is required. Must have at least two years driving experience
  • Requires 24-hour DCF Core Competency training and additional 6 hours to qualify for Privilege status (30 hours total).
  • Requires ongoing 16 hours of DCF approved training annually after the first year.
  • Must pass a Level II Background Screening and a drug screening.
  • Cash register skills required.
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook and spreadsheet software.
  • Must know how to safely use a pallet jack, warehouse ladder, dollies and hand carts to transport donated goods within the warehouse and store and to and from the box truck.
  • DV Knowledge: must have an understanding of domestic violence issues and use empowerment-based practices when interacting with survivors and their children.
  • Leadership: able to lead with confidence and minimal supervision and work harmoniously with staff, participants, volunteers, funders and the public.
  • Confidentiality: handling sensitive employee and participant information with care
  • Communication: able to effectively convey information, ideas and directions to everyone
  • Sound Judgment: has high ethical and professional standards and makes good decisions; knows when to seek additional guidance
  • Available: May require an immediate response to a text, email or phone message; will require weekday and Saturday hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Greet customers/donors in a friendly manner at all times.
  • Accept and sort donated merchandise.
  • Price merchandise.
  • Respond effectively to changing demands.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Problem solver.
  • Carry merchandise into the stores and stocking shelves.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and visually attractive store and processing areas.
  • Work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Respond to phone or email messages.
  • Requires working on Tuesday - Saturdays. Hours and days may be adjusted based on store needs.
  • Ability/willingness to perform other positions within the donation center, boutique and thrift operation.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
