About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide effective, culturally specific domestic and sexual violence services to the Slavic and Eastern European refugee/immigrant population of Oregon and southwest Washington. The role involves responding to emergency calls, providing trauma-informed advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention to survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. The position is full-time, with 32 hours considered full-time at EMO, and is classified as non-exempt. The pay starts at $30.80 per hour, with potential increases based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social work, counseling or related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Slavic culture and the local Russian/Ukrainian-speaking population.
  • Knowledge of local victim service providers and social service organizations.
  • Appropriate multicultural work experience with refugee populations.
  • Ability to use a computer and various software programs.
  • Possess valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.

Responsibilities

  • Available to respond to emergency calls; carry crisis phone on rotation for two weeks at a time.
  • Provide trauma-informed, survivor-led, culturally/language specific advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention to survivors of IPV.
  • Guide participants through safety planning, systems navigation, and community referrals.
  • Provide emotional support and education around the impacts of trauma to survivors.
  • Facilitate support groups for IPV survivors.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case files, manage data entry, complete narrative/quantitative reports.
  • Assist in the design/facilitation of training programs for community partners.
  • Assist in the implementation of innovative strategies for community outreach, engagement, and client recruitment.
  • Attend SOSS staff meetings, EMO staff meetings and training related to IPV, victims' rights, trauma informed care, culturally specific mental health.
  • Other duties as assigned.
