Position Summary: The CNC Operator (Domes) is responsible for the operation of computer numerical control machines such as CNC, punch, mill, structural roll, beam line or angle line that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures in the department.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and/or sketches.
  • Ability to use simple math to perform basic calculations.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic computer competencies.
  • Knowledge and ability to use common measuring instruments such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience with CNC operation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the understanding and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Responsible for Quality Control procedures and documentation of parts.
  • Reads job specifications and/or blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements (Part Layout).
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
  • Responsible for learning, understanding and using MOP’s and SWI’s.
  • Responsible for learning and using Epicor and MES Equipment.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
