As a Petco Certified Dog Trainer, you will be crucial in furthering this mission by using modern dog training techniques and positive reinforcement to help pet parents develop well-behaved, happy, and healthy dogs. This includes providing one-on-one sessions, group classes, and advice on basic training, environmental management, and customized training plans. Additionally, you will engage with guests to offer 360-degree personalized solutions, including recommendations on healthy nutrition, services, and essential supplies, positively impacting pets' health and wellness.

Requirements

Complete the ‘Dog Training Instructor Program (DTIP)’ to become Petco Certified Dog Trainer (6-weeks of instructor-led learning and development).
Successfully run and grow the dog training business in a Petco Pet Care Center.
Complete the Health & Wellness Certification Program for Dog.
Passion for animal care, training, and welfare.
Genuine interest in improving the lives of pets and pet parents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with pet parents and providing instructions.
Demonstrated ability to handle and work with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds safely and humanely.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
Familiarity with computer systems and software for managing training records, schedules, and communication.
Prior experience may allow for accelerated training if skill and knowledge assessments are passed.

Responsibilities

Provide world-class dog training services, including one-on-one sessions and group classes.
Attend and successfully complete Petco’s 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program (DTIP) and all assigned learning modules.
Recommend and sell appropriate dog training classes, training, and supplies to pet parents.
Maintain accurate records of training sessions, progress, and pet parents' feedback.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to offer holistic health solutions.
Apply ongoing training programs to maintain expertise.
Provide outstanding guest experience by engaging with guests and recommending merchandise and services.
Generate future business through understanding guest needs and connecting to digital platforms.
Demonstrate high awareness and knowledge for animal health, welfare, and proper handling.
Support the Pet Care Center in achieving performance goals.
Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed effectively.
Complete cash register transactions and support OMNI shopping experiences.
Adhere to operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Evaluate guest inquiries and refer to the Leader on Duty as needed.
Utilize selling behaviors to identify and solve guest needs.
Contribute to a safe environment by maintaining safety protocols for partners, guests, and pets.
Engage in career development programs for continued growth.
