About The Position

As a Petco Certified Dog Trainer, you will enhance the bond between pet parents and their dogs by utilizing modern training techniques and positive reinforcement methods. Your role will involve providing one-on-one training sessions, group classes, and personalized advice to help pet parents achieve their training goals. You will also engage with guests to offer tailored solutions for their pets' needs, contributing to the overall health and wellness of pets.

Requirements

• Passion for animal care, training, and welfare.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle and work with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds safely.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
• Familiarity with computer systems and software for managing training records.

Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully pass Petco's 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program.
• Complete all assigned Workday Learning modules and DTIP Student Workbook materials.
• Recommend and sell appropriate dog training classes, training, and supplies.
• Keep accurate records of training sessions, progress, and feedback from pet parents.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Work cross-functionally with grooming and veterinary teams to provide holistic health solutions.
• Complete ongoing training programs to maintain expertise in the role.
• Provide an outstanding guest experience by engaging with guests in selecting merchandise and services.
• Generate future business through understanding guest and pet needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge for the health, welfare, and proper handling of all animals.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed appropriately.
• Complete cash register transactions and support guests with their shopping experience.
• Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
