About The Position

The position is responsible for the supervision and coordination of an assigned classroom, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Department of Education (DOE) Requirements, and Licensing Regulations. The role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children, observing and documenting their growth, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the center.

Requirements

  • Must have a baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education or equivalent.
  • Must meet the qualification requirements set forth in NJ/PA licensing regulations.
  • Must have New Jersey’s P-3 certification: CE, CEA, or Standard Cert.
  • Must have a car available on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement activities for preschool children in accordance with Head Start philosophy and standards.
  • Submit weekly curriculum-based lesson plans to the Child/Family Site Director and Education Manager/Coordinator.
  • Observe, assess, screen, and document each child's growth and development.
  • Maintain accurate records for each child in individual folders and databases.
  • Implement services for children with special needs.
  • Ensure child safety by monitoring the center and reporting any concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports, including classroom sign-in/out sheets and monthly reports.
  • Plan and involve parents in classroom activities and educational planning sessions.
  • Conduct home visits for each child at least twice a year.
  • Hold two parent/teacher conferences within the program year.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops.
  • Assist with administrative duties as delegated by management.
  • Provide on-site training to Center staff as requested.
