About The Position

This project explores the epitaxial synthesis of thin-film quantum materials with engineered crystal structure and interfaces. Students will participate in thin-film growth using advanced deposition techniques and characterize structural and functional properties using X-ray and microscopy tools. The goal is to understand how synthesis conditions influence materials relevant to quantum sensing and photonics.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.

Responsibilities

  • thin-film growth using advanced deposition techniques
  • characterize structural and functional properties using X-ray and microscopy tools
