About The Position

Our team has several projects focused on bioenergy crop production and the provision of ecosystem services (ES). Perennial bioenergy crops such as shrub willow, switchgrass, miscanthus, and other native prairie grass mixtures can be used as feedstock for biofuels [e.g., sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)] and bioproducts (e.g., biochar, erosion control socks, food containers). When grown on marginal land within agricultural landscapes, these crops can also provide ES such as improved water quality, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and soil health, while reducing soil erosion and soil gas fluxes. We study the environmental and economic aspects of perennial crops through direct data collection (laboratory and field work) and modeling (e.g. developing machine learning models to predict ES and biomass yield) Education and Experience Requirements The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
