About The Position

E-Logic is seeking a highly detailed and skilled Document Accessibility Specialist to support a government agency (County of Sacramento) on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring all public-facing documents comply with mandated accessibility standards, making critical information accessible to all users. This role will be for 6 months with a possibility to extend, hybrid with 3 days on site and with 2 days remote after training. The interview and work location will be at 79 G Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Key Responsibilities The Document Accessibility Specialist will perform the following duties:

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word accessibility features , including styles, headings, tables, lists, and alt text.
  • Advanced experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro for tagging, reading order, accessibility tools, and remediation.
  • Thorough understanding of Section 508, WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and ADA requirements
  • Proven ability to remediate complex documents, such as forms, tables, and multisection reports.
  • High attention to detail and strong quality assurance skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Remediate Microsoft Word and PDF documents to ensure accessibility compliance.
  • Apply correct accessibility features, including: heading structure, ALT text, reading order, tagging, bookmarks, and metadata
  • Convert documents cleanly between Word and PDF while maintaining accessibility standards.
  • Identify accessibility issues and resolve formatting problems.
  • Validate documents using Accessibility Checkers
  • Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards
  • Communicate with content owners to clarify intent or resolve identified issues.
